Have I mentioned how people wash the sidewalks here? I don't mean just sweep the sidewalks, or spray them down with a bit of water. I mean every morning they pull out a bucket of soapy water and a scrubby broom and go to town on the sidewalk area outside their house or business. I walk through numerous soapy sidewalks on my way to work each day, including the Casa's at times.
Does this happen in other places? Or is it just a Mexican thing? I find it a little odd - I mean does it really do any good? And isn't it a pretty big waste of water? Especially during the rainy season? I guess I should be appreciative, though. There's certainly plenty of dirt in this city to be washed.

I've never heard of that anywhere else. But then I haven't spent that much time in big cities, either. It does seem like a waste of water, but in the U.S. we waste so much water on things like watering the lawn that we can't really talk!
I just wish they'd do this in Europe to get rid of the dog crap on the sidewalks. Bleah!
