Our cat Sammy died last night. He had a much longer than expected life and many adventures despite being blind, obese, and diabetic. He was rescued from a yard full of cats as the runt who couldn't get any food, survived a virus that left him blind, had eye surgery as a kitten but remained largely blind, once walked along our 6 story apartment window ledge to sneak into the neighbor's closet where he stayed for nearly a week, lived part of his life in Mexico and learned Spanish, managed diabetes for a few years (dying with a good blood sugar level), tolerated an extremely pushy little toddler for nearly two years, and generally made everyone love him for being such a big fat lovable lump. Sammy died relatively peacefully and I had the privilege of helping him let go. Thanks for being such a wonderful part of our life, Sambo. We'll miss you.

Know you miss Sammy ..
Love, Mom
Goodbye Sammy, you lovable lump. Bridget, your post is a nice tribute to a sweet kitty - it made me all teary-eyed. The picture of Pablo and Sammy is great. Love you and can't wait to see you and eat turkey!
He tolerated a toddler and a grouchy old man both. I will certainly miss him.
