Mexican Technology
I saw a guy pushing one of the new high-tech Metrobuses up a hill yesterday. There it was, a nice new double length bus with all the latest gadgets in big city public transport - automated doors, that accordian middle so it can turn corners, computerized route tracking, that annoying beeping signal when the doors are about to close and slice off someone's limb if they don't get out of the way - packed way beyond its official capacity, with faces crushed up against the glass doors, looking like desparate sardines waiting for someone to pop the top. And there he was, running along side this fully automated 21st century creation, in the middle of rush hour D.F. traffic, pushing with all his strengh to help get it up a little hill in the road. For a moment I asked myself what was wrong with this picture. Then I remembered...nothing, I'm in Mexico.

I just heard that Charlotte is about to get some new fancy high-tech city buses ... I hope they don't need "human pushers", too.
