I am still interested in the world! I emerged from Babyland today and spent hours catching up on the news and things in my life that have nothing to do with babies. I read the newspaper cover to cover (which if you know La Jornada, you know is no short task), listened to podcasts of the BBC's Mundo Hoy and NPR's Latino USA, caught up on reading for the Geneva Quaker UN Committee that I recently joined. And it was all just fascinating!
Ok, yes, something in Latino USA usually makes me cry as I think about the challenges and joys our child will face as a Mexican-American. And thinking about Quaker peacework makes me wonder how I'll manage balancing my career and motherhood. But, for the first time in a while I put all pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding books aside and remembered that I do still have lots of other interests and passions. Wow! How refreshing!
Perhaps I will make it through the final days of the pregnancy without losing my mind after all. Of course, there is always tomorrow...

Hurray - you haven't lost your mind! I'm glad to hear it. I'm sure you will soon enough taking care of an infant. :)
Seems like a really good time to catch up on reading if you can focus on it, which it sounds like you can. Good job!
I'm still hoping for a 2/29 Leap Year baby!
Hang in there, Mother.
Want to change any spelling in the second line of the quoted telephone conversation in the previous blog input?
Love you
No, anonymous, I don't want to change any spelling - mistakes are allowed on blogs, especially when you're 9 months pregnant!
And don't think you can remain anonymous with comments like that!
:) love you, too, Dad.
