Sleep

So it's been a week and a half since an entry and here's why. For the past two weeks Pablo's previously manageable sleep pattern has fallen completely apart. Rather than waking every three to four hours during the night, which was not exactly restful but still quite manageable, he's now waking every one or two hours, which is simply torture. I hear of babies that sleep from 7 to 7 from just a few months on but Pablo clearly will not be one of those. At four months he should be sleeping better, not worse, but he seems to be operating on his own developmental pattern.

I'm hoping it's just a phase, or that he's picking up the stress that the move is causing us. But whatever the case, if something doesn't change soon his parents may not make it (and you won't be reading too many blog entries). I've heard that waking someone every hour actually is a form of torture, and I understand why. As much as I love to see my baby, I could manage a few hours with our eyes closed. Our friends with children told us we should enjoy sleep while we were pregnant. We took their advice, but I had no idea until now that what they were really saying was get ready to live in a sleep deprived state for the next year. I realized the other day I've not slept more than four hours straight since Pablo was born, that's almost four and a half months now. Surely that cannot be good for my health. Or for his for that matter.

So bear with me fans, I'll be back to blogging after I catch a few winks.

Hey Bridget! I was excited to see a new post (your fans have been trying not to harass you about not blogging since you not only have a baby, but are getting ready for a huge move as well!), but I'm so sorry to hear about the lack of sleep! I assumed you were busy packing and sorting through things, or too stressed about the upcoming move. But not getting any real sleep is much worse than that! I will send sleepy thoughts to Pablo. zzzzzzzzzz

Bridget:

Sorry about the sleep problem.

I'll send you an email with more thoughts.

Hope you catch some shut eye soon.

Love you, mom
